Elise Gervance, director of community development for Jefferson County, told commissioners the county had been awarded $663,000 in competitive Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to help Brockway Borough toward a phase of a water-infrastructure project estimated at roughly $50,000,000. "The Jefferson County has been awarded $663,000 in competitive CDBG funds," Gervance said, adding the borough has committed $125,000 in engineering fees and the county supplemented entitlement funds for the application submitted in February.
Gervance also announced the county received $400,000 through the HOME Investment Partnerships program from DCED for countywide owner-occupied housing rehabilitation for households meeting Section 8 income guidelines. She said the program wait list is closed because applicants have already been identified and that staff will distribute a press release and handouts after the meeting.
On routine business the board approved minutes from the June 9 meeting and approved payroll for May 31 through June 13, 2026 in the amount of $346,252.71. The board also approved an amended contract with Community Action to increase Medical Assistance Transportation Program trip rates from $46.50 to $64.80; commissioners said the annual adjustment keeps county administration aligned with MATP program rates. "This adjustment is done annually," a commissioner said, noting the program is administered through Community Action and DHS.
The commissioners moved and approved the appointment of Angela Burridge as chief clerk for the County of Jefferson and as open records officer. No public votes with named tallies were recorded in the transcript; motions were made, seconded and carried with members saying "aye." The meeting packet and staff offered to provide press releases and additional information to attendees.
The board scheduled its next meeting for July 14 at 10:30 a.m.
