Commission members outlined plans and costs for the "That's My Brick" project at the July 8 meeting. Pam Thompson reported bricks will be delivered on Aug. 1 and installation is expected during the first week of August at a cost of $3,200 for Belgium blocks and clean-up.
The commission has 400 blank bricks and 105 inscribed bricks, plus 800 extra blank bricks purchased for $4,000 that the group may offer to The Nature Center, which is repairing a brick walkway. Thompson said the group netted close to $20,000 from the fundraiser and identified three plaques that will be engraved; members discussed setting a reveal date around Labor Day to allow time for mulching and final preparations.
Thompson also said the commission picked up trademark fees for business donors and will advise participating businesses about tax-deduction questions. The minutes note a plan to explore vendors such as Etsy and Amazon for plaque engraving and to keep businesses informed about the scheduled "reveal date."
