Cecilton council accepts minutes and financials, reviews FY2025 audit and community activity; meeting ends at 7:40 p.m.

The Town of Cecilton Mayor and Council on Feb. 17 approved routine meeting business, received the fiscal-year 2025 audit review and heard community updates before adjourning at 7:40 p.m.

Member Jennie Brockell moved to accept the Jan. 20, 2026 Regular Session meeting minutes as written; Member Craig DeVary seconded and the motion carried. Member Sue Katzmire moved to accept the January final financials as written; Member Brockell seconded and the motion carried. No roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript for those motions.

Jim Baxter, CPA, reviewed the FY2025 audit for the council. Baxter said total assets and liabilities for the town's two accounts, general and enterprise, were similar to the previous year, depreciation on facilities was explained, income from both funds remained relatively consistent and the town had made all scheduled payments; the audit report was made available for review and council asked no questions.

Sergeant Dixon presented the Cecilton activity report; the transcript records no follow-up questions from council. Under Good of the Order members praised the Life on the Chesapeake exhibit and encouraged participation in a coming Bed Race (two teams registered as of the meeting). Member Katzmire said she will again approach Faith in Action coordinators about setting up an online account for donations and suggested obtaining raffle baskets for upcoming events.

Member Brockell moved to adjourn; Member DeVary seconded and the meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
