Sherwood adopts 1983 budget and considers limits on general-relief medical liability

At its December meetings the Village Board approved the proposed 1983 budget and took action on two policy matters.

Residents asked about levy limits and timing of balances; after discussion the board unanimously approved the 1983 budget. The board also moved to place delinquent County M assessments on the tax roll.

Separately, a resolution limiting the village’s liability for medical and dental care furnished as general relief was discussed and approved. Citing Chapter 317 of the Laws of 1981 and statutory authority, the resolution limits liability after a stated effective date to the amount payable by medical assistance for similar care so that unanticipated medical bills do not unduly burden village finances.

The minutes record that the board instructed staff to proceed with division of assets work and auditor engagement for utility FHA/PFC requirements as part of year‑end administrative tasks.
