Manchester library passes post-remediation test; reopening expected next week

Rick, a county facilities staffer, told the committee the Manchester library passed a post-remediation verification test on June 24 and that staff are preparing to reopen the branch, likely the upcoming Monday. He said two different companies conducted air-quality testing; one company initially failed the site and was later asked to verify completion to remove public doubt.

"We had our post-remediation verification test completed on June 24, and it passed," Rick said. He explained that the county engaged a second testing company with more stringent passing criteria to confirm the cleanup and that the third-party verification was completed after final cleaning.

Rick acknowledged criticism on social media about the timeline but said staff and contractors worked to get the facility cleared and ready to reopen. He noted remaining maintenance needs elsewhere, including roof work at another building, and said plans are in place to replace roofing with specifications under development.

The committee expressed appreciation for the work and asked staff to continue coordinating the move-in schedule and to provide updates as needed.
