Lisbon Commission on Aging holds executive session over canceled Veterans’ Breakfast, agrees to revisit managerial coverage

The Lisbon Commission on Aging went into an executive session at 11:01 a.m. during its July 6 meeting to discuss the cancellation of the monthly Veterans’ Breakfast and related communication concerns, then returned at 11:17 a.m. and voted to revisit managerial coverage protocols.

Commission member Ara Wilnas told the commission that while she was on vacation a decision was made to cancel the Veterans' Breakfast and that communication about that decision had been inadequate. Wilnas moved, and Karen Washington seconded, to go into executive session to discuss the incident; the motion carried unanimously and the minutes record the commission reconvened at 11:17 a.m.

After the executive session, Joan Marshall moved and Karen Arremony seconded a motion to revisit managerial coverage in the director’s absence; that motion also passed unanimously. The meeting minutes do not record additional details from the executive session or any personnel determinations, only that the commission will revisit the topic of managerial coverage and follow up at a later date.

The executive session and subsequent motion reflect internal operational concerns about how the Active Aging Center handles staff coverage and communication around program cancellations. The commission did not disclose personnel actions in the public minutes.
