Board approves technical extension and three‑year opioid-settlement spending plan

The Ashe County Board of Commissioners approved two opioid-settlement resolutions presented by Taysha Maldonado of App Health Care: a technical extension to correct dates on the 2024–25 resolution and a new three-year allocation plan for expected state settlement funds.

Taysha, who identified herself as the county’s opioid settlement coordinator for App Health Care, said the first item extends the dates from 06/30/2026 to 07/05/2026 to avoid any funding gap with the previous fiscal-year resolution. She described the second resolution as an updated plan that bundles expected receipts for three years and distributes them evenly across that period because state opioid settlement funding declines annually.

"For this three year cycle though, it's going to be the same sites that were funded as last year," Taysha said, noting that the strategies and service-delivery projects remain unchanged.

Commissioners moved and seconded approval of both items. The board did not alter the list of funded sites or strategies at the meeting; the resolutions were presented as administrative measures to ensure continuity of funding and to plan for an expected three-year funding pattern.
