Council approves consent agenda, schedules Arbor West grand opening and Night to Unite

The Hugo City Council approved 11 items on the consent agenda on July 6, as summarized by city staff. Items approved included the claims roster, annual performance reviews for public-works and building staff, appointment of election judges for the 2026 primary and general elections, a special-event permit for the Hero Gravel Classic bicycle race (Aug. 22), a lump-sum pension increase request from the Hugo Firefighters Relief Association, preliminary plat and PUD approvals for Oneka Lake Reserve, reduction of a letter of credit for Liberty Classical Academy, purchase of a 2027 Vactor sewer cleaning truck, and playground equipment for Frog Hollow Park.

Staff asked the council to schedule the Arbor West Apartments ribbon-cutting and grand opening on Tuesday, July 28; the council approved holding a meeting that day for the event. Staff also suggested scheduling National Night Out (Night to Unite) on Tuesday, Aug. 4 starting at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall and asked the council to confirm. The finance department proposed holding the mid-year budget workshop on Thursday, Sept. 3 at 6 p.m.; staff will return with a confirmed date if council members report scheduling conflicts.
