Commission approves sign permits for new location of Divino/relocated business at 112 E. San Antonio

The Historic Landmark Commission approved a certificate of appropriateness July 7 for new signage at 112 East San Antonio Avenue, a contributing historic structure formerly known as the Boerne Telephone Exchange Building.

City staff presented the proposal: a refacing of an existing double-sided awning sign (18 x 48 inches, 6 square feet) and a rear wall sign (24 x 84 inches, 14 square feet), both printed on UV-laminated aluminum composite and using earth‑tone colors. Staff found the signs comply with UDC and historic-district design guidelines and noted the wall sconce lighting is dark-sky compliant.

Applicant Luke Kirsch told the commission the business has operated nearly two years and is relocating; the proposed signs are the same as those previously permitted at his former location. A motion to approve the COA passed by voice vote.

Staff reminded the board that although the signs were approved, other site improvements and any future sign variances may require additional review under the UDC and by the commission.
