Staff previews OV Path Forward outreach ahead of November vote

On July 7, 2026, Oro Valley planning staff briefed the Planning and Zoning Commission on the adoption process for OV Path Forward, a resident-driven 10-year plan developed from more than 10,000 community comments.

Planning staff member Ms. Simms said the adoption process began with public hearings before the commission and Town Council and now moves to phase 3, "Residents Decide," which will kick off in August and culminate with a ballot measure in November. She outlined outreach plans including road signs that will go up in mid-August, postcard mailers to every household, short videos created by working-group residents for social media, and recruitment of ambassadors to help distribute information in neighborhoods.

"All of these efforts over the past 3 years have been leading up to empowering residents to decide on the plan," Ms. Simms said. She encouraged commissioners and residents to visit ovpathforward.com for details and noted the town will include the plan information in Community Academy sessions; staff asked that residents register by Sept. 9 so materials are prepared.

Ms. Simms also provided routine planning updates: the August 4 commission meeting currently has no items and the September 1 meeting will include a staff update on the community model-home program, which she said is required by state law and is informational rather than a matter for commission vote.

The presentation emphasized outreach and resident education ahead of the election and invited commissioners to help spread the word by hosting staff presentations for HOAs and neighborhood groups.
