Pella council approves consent agenda, renews Hy-Vee license and appoints committee members

At its July 7 meeting the Pella City Council approved its consent agenda and several appointments and permits.

The consent agenda included approval of the official June 16 council minutes, multiple committee and commission minutes, the renewal of Hy-Vee’s Class E retail alcohol license, and special event permits including an amendment to the Library Summer Games and a permit for the Finish Strong: Dan Sorenson 5K. Resolution No. 7091, temporarily closing public ways or grounds in connection with the Finish Strong 5K, was listed and approved under the consent agenda.

Council also reappointed Trevor Nikkel to the Airport Committee (motion by Van Stryland, second by Branderhorst; roll call AYEs: 5, NAYS: none) and appointed the Economic Development Review Committee (motion by Branderhorst, second by Hopkins; roll call AYEs: 5, NAYS: none). Several early motions occurred before the arrival of Councilmember Dr. Spencer Carlstone, as reflected in a 5–0 roll prior to his attendance.

The council approved Abstract of Bills No. 2202 later in the meeting. No additional public comments were received during Other Business/Public Forum.
