Ledyard IWWC accepts 6 Winthrop Road drainage repair, schedules site visit; commission finds activity non‑significant

The Ledyard Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission received and accepted application IWWC 26‑17 on July 7 from the owner of 6 Winthrop Road requesting erosion repair and restoration of an eroded residential drainage ditch.

Presenter described severe localized erosion near a house and outlined a plan to bring in material, grade the channel, place structural fill and riprap to armor the bank. “It’s gonna take a considerable amount of fill… and then cover it all over with rock and riprap,” the presenter said. Staff and commissioners asked for clearer plan overlays showing the exact area of disturbance in relation to mapped wetland boundaries and recommended a site stakeout to confirm limits of work.

The commission scheduled an on‑site review for Tuesday, July 28 at 5 p.m., meeting near 14 Hyde Park Road. During the meeting a motion was made and seconded to determine that the proposed regulated activities "do not meet any of the criteria of significant impact activities" as defined in the town IWWC regulations and Connecticut standards; commissioners voted unanimously in favor of that non‑significant determination.
