Council discusses renting city building; tables decision, asks for security- system quote

The Ballard City Council discussed making the city building available for community use and decided to table the issue pending additional information.

Members said a community meeting space would be particularly useful during winter months and noted the building’s location next to the park makes it a good rental candidate. Council members raised practical concerns about staffing for post-event lockup and the need for a more secure and convenient key or entry system.

Council Member Steve Secrest specifically requested that Council Member Shaun Murray obtain a quote from Spectra for a key/entry system. The council did not vote on rental rates or a policy at this meeting and tabled the matter for a formal vote at the next meeting.
