At its Feb. 17 meeting the Historic Preservation Commission continued work on a proposed preservation waiver or exception intended to provide limited flexibility where zoning dimensional standards conflict with historic conditions.
Commissioners emphasized that any waiver process should be narrowly scoped to address setbacks and lot-coverage conflicts and must be supported by clearer, expanded Design Guidelines so evaluations are applied consistently across neighborhoods and zoning districts. The commission agreed to coordinate its Design Guidelines updates in parallel with proposed ordinance language.
The Planning Commission will draft proposed ordinance language for the preservation waiver/exception for future review. The commission also scheduled a publicly noticed working session to continue Design Guidelines updates at 2:00 p.m. March 10 at Chair Bob Booher’s home.
The minutes do not record final ordinance text or Council action; the working session is intended to refine guideline language before formal review.
