Superintendent reports 86% graduation rate for June; board hears facility and budget updates

Superintendent Amy Creedon told the board on July 2 that the district’s official high‑school graduation rate for the 2022 cohort stood at 86% for June and credited staff, administrators and volunteers for the result.

Creedon said that cohort faced COVID-era disruptions that changed earlier graduation-pathway options and that supports put in place helped many students succeed. Trustees discussed the cohort context and asked clarifying questions about how pandemic disruptions affected students’ progress.

Creedon also explained that the high school will be closed over the summer for an electrical upgrade and that summer programming will take place at Monhagen Middle School while work is underway. In a separate item, district administration reported on contingency spending for a building project: the project is reported as roughly 53–54% complete and contingency use is within the expected share of the 1.5% contingency allowance to date.

Trustees praised staff and graduates, and members suggested student-focused activities such as participatory budgeting to engage student board representatives during the year.
