At its Jan. 13 meeting the Archie Board of Aldermen approved several routine but substantive items and heard a presentation on telecommunications outreach.
The board approved Resolution 26-1 concerning the city’s retirement plan after a motion by Alderman Scott Kendrick and a second from Alderman Mark Houchen; the vote was recorded with Houchen, Kendrick and Wiskur voting yes. The board also approved shredding documents as guided by the State of Missouri retention schedule following a motion by Alderman Kendrick and a second by Alderman Houchen.
Chief Trevor Zaharsky asked the board to approve the purchase of Motorola in-car cameras and body cameras for the Archie Police Department and reported the cost is covered by a Blue Shield grant. Alderman Kendrick moved to approve the purchase, Alderman Wiskur seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. The transcript lists an unclear dollar figure for the grant; the chief characterized the purchase as grant-funded.
In new business, representatives from Peoptes Telecommunications, including Jennifer Leach Hartow and Jim McAtee, presented information about telecommunications and high-speed fiber. Board members noted Comcast had also contacted the city and directed staff to consider outreach to residents and possibly host a town hall to answer questions.
Next steps: administrative staff will process the approved resolutions and purchases and will follow up on broadband outreach planning if the board decides to pursue public engagement.
