The Town of Clermont convened Jan. 6, 2026, and Town Clerk Amy Lomax administered the Oath of Office to newly elected Council Members Marcia Kesler and James Castleberry and to Mayor James Nix.
The council moved to appoint the town's 2026 officers. James Castleberry moved to appoint James Nix as First Administrator; Seth Weaver as Second Administrator and Mayor Pro Tem; Amy Lomax as Town Clerk; David Syfan as Town Attorney; Walker, Pierce & Tuck CPA's as Town Auditor; Ronald Couch as Building Inspector; and The Gainesville Times as the legal organ. John Brady seconded the appointment motion and the council voted unanimously in favor.
On equipment maintenance, Council Member Seth Weaver reported a $5,300 estimate to repair the town dump truck and moved to authorize the repair; John Brady seconded and the council approved the expense.
Mayor James Nix updated the council on Veterans Park, saying Chattahoochee Group is expected to begin site work in the next couple of weeks and that the town has received several orders for engraved bricks. Council Member James Castleberry asked whether the county had provided written commitments for SPLOST funds for three requested intersections; the mayor said he had reached out to Zach Propes and Castleberry said he would call Jason Dykes to clarify traffic studies conducted in the fall and the next steps.
The council set its February meeting for Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026, to accommodate the clerk's training, and adjourned at 7:47 p.m.
