The Sheboygan County Transportation Committee on July 6 approved the Transportation Department’s Five-Year Capital Plan and a series of procurement and personnel items during a meeting in Plymouth.
Chairman Jacqueline Veldman called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. and the committee then moved through routine business before taking several formal votes. Supervisor Thomas Wegner moved to approve the Five-Year Capital Plan; Supervisor Jon Kuhlow seconded the motion and it carried.
The committee approved multiple procurement and personnel items. Supervisor Vern Koch moved to approve an equipment purchase from Wisconsin Surplus; Supervisor Jay Vander Weele seconded and the motion carried. Supervisor Jon Kuhlow moved to approve the purchase of 2027 equipment; Supervisor Vander Weele seconded and the motion carried. The committee also approved a headcount exception for an Office Coordinator after a motion from Supervisor Vander Weele and a second from Supervisor Koch.
Two land acquisitions were approved. Supervisor Vern Koch moved and Supervisor Jay Vander Weele seconded approval of a purchase of land from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation; the motion carried. Supervisor Jon Kuhlow moved and Supervisor Thomas Wegner seconded approval of the purchase of land at the corner of State Highway 28 and County Road U; the motion carried.
The minutes from the June 15, 2026 meeting were approved (motion by Supervisor Wegner, seconded by Supervisor Vander Weele) and the committee approved vouchers (motion by Supervisor Kuhlow, seconded by Supervisor Vander Weele). The committee also authorized Chairman Veldman’s attendance at the Transportation Department’s July 2026 budget meeting (motion by Supervisor Wegner, seconded by Supervisor Vander Weele). No vote tallies were recorded in the minutes; each listed motion is noted as "motion carried."
