Council announces active-shooter training, parks and cultural meetings; next session July 13

Council member B. Williams told residents the council is encouraging participation in community safety training led by Trooper Woodard at Victoria's Believers Church this Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. "He is doing active shooter training, civilian training," B. Williams said, noting the event is free and practical for everyday situations such as trips to the grocery store.

Council member James invited the public to a Parks and Recreation meeting on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and an African-American culture heritage meeting on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., and reminded residents to engage with local government. Another council member urged Prairie View residents to "share your voices" and attend meetings.

Council member Emanuel thanked attendees and asked for prayers for bereaved families. The council closed the special meeting and confirmed that the next regular council meeting is on Monday, July 13 at 6:00 p.m.
