North Ridgeville council adopts midyear budget amendment with emergency clause

North Ridgeville’s City Council on July 6 adopted a midyear amendment to the city’s 2026 appropriations ordinance (Ordinance 2026-72), approving immediate funding for an air conditioner at the senior center, accrued leave cash-outs, overtime, a settlement payment and additional public works tooling.

The finance director told council the amendment includes “the installation of an air conditioning unit at the senior center, accrued leave cash outs, overtime expenses, deposit refunds, the payment of a settlement, and additional funding to cover an increase in cost for the purchase of a toolkit for the public works department,” and urged adoption with an emergency clause so departments could meet obligations.

Mayor [title listed in the record as Mayor] moved to dispense with second and third readings, add an emergency clause and adopt the ordinance. The motion to add the emergency clause and to adopt was seconded by Councilmember Aans. Council then conducted a roll-call vote and the motion carried; the ordinance was recorded as adopted with the emergency clause in place.
