Neighbors’ pond and sinkhole concerns flagged as Lakes of Martinsburg final plat is set for public hearing

The commission accepted staff’s recommendation to advertise a public hearing on Aug. 3, 2026, for the Lakes of Martinsburg phases 3–4 final plat (file 2602-044), which proposes 122 single‑family lots across about 45 acres.

Commissioners raised questions about existing pond and stormwater retention issues in the community and noted prior sinkholes and remediation work. Staff acknowledged repairs had been made and said the concerns — including potential legal actions by residents — would be communicated to the developer and revisited at the public hearing stage so neighbors can raise outstanding issues.

The commission moved to advertise the public hearing; final plat approval was not granted at this meeting and will be considered after public comment and any required follow-up from the developer.
