Public safety items: CRB hearing to close and vote scheduled; donation, fit-testing and reimbursement on agenda

The public-safety representative said the council will close the public hearing and vote on proposed amendments to the Civilian Review Board ordinance tomorrow evening; the council earlier heard that the CRB had voted 4–1 to adopt its changes.

Public safety staff also asked the council to authorize an addendum with Gibby's Professional Fit Testing LLC for fit testing Avon gas masks for the police department and noted Naira offered to donate $10,000 toward purchasing a canine bomb dog after the department’s previous canine passed away. The representative presented a proposed contract with Upstate Polygraph Services for polygraph work and described an InstaMed addendum to maintain ambulance-billing continuity (no cost to the city).

Finally, staff requested authorization to reimburse Randy Weber $336.14 for an improper tow after parking-enforcement officers made an error; the city attorney and risk staff reviewed and concurred with the reimbursement.

The CRB hearing closing and vote were scheduled for the next meeting; other items were presented for authorization as appropriate.
