The Califon Borough Board of Education approved routine finance, facilities, personnel and curriculum items during its Oct. 15 meeting, including a bill list totaling $258,393.37.
The board approved the Treasurer’s and Board Secretary reports for August and September 2025 and certified that sufficient funds were available and no major accounts were over-expended in compliance with N.J.A.C. 6A:23A:16.20. Trustees also approved transfers for August and September and accepted an anonymous $3,000 donation earmarked for the 8th-grade trip.
Facilities and transportation items included documentation of mandated security/fire/evacuation drills and approval to submit the Comprehensive Maintenance Plan (M-1) for the 2026–2027 school year. The board granted the Lebanon Township Athletic Association use of school facilities for scheduled basketball practices and games, contingent on custodial availability.
Personnel approvals on the consent agenda included conditional appointments of substitute teachers pending criminal-history clearance and authorization of as-needed home instructors. The board approved 30 weeks of mandated mentoring for staff and a mentoring fee for one pairing. Field trips approved included an 8th-grade Lunch Cruise on the Hudson (cost $2,000 from funds raised/donated), a Gateway National Recreation Area trip for grades 3–5 ($885), and an 8th-grade trip to "VHS" ($100).
All consent-agenda motions and addendum items were adopted by unanimous roll-call vote.
