Adam Crotzer appointed Grant County veteran service officer; office to close daily for lunch temporarily

Commissioners approved the appointment of Adam Crotzer to fill the veteran service officer (VSO) position through January (the body’s usual appointment window) with pay effective July 13, 2026, and also approved a temporary policy to close the VSO office from noon to 1 p.m. daily for the next two months to allow staff lunch coverage while staffing shortages are addressed.

Crotzer introduced himself as the assistant veteran service officer and described a surge in workload after the resignation of the prior VSO; he asked to close the office for one hour at noon so two staff could take lunch without leaving the office unattended. Commissioners discussed seeking part‑time help and agreed to advertise the temporary hours on the office door and the Grant County Veteran Service Office Facebook page.

Commissioner Stewart moved and Commissioner Polling seconded the appointment of Crotzer as VSO until January, with an effective pay date of July 13, 2026; the motion carried on a voice vote. The board then approved the temporary noon closure for two months and asked staff to pursue a part‑time hire and notify veterans of the change.
