Hillsdale Board approves personnel moves, resignations and revised instruction rate

The Hillsdale Board of Education on Jan. 19 approved a range of personnel actions recommended by the Personnel Committee, including professional development, substitutes, transfers, resignations and several operational rate and assignment changes.

Trustees approved professional development days and associated costs for multiple staff members, including a $230 registration for Jessica Carroll to attend the NVCC workshop (paid with ESEA Title II funds). The board also approved substitutes for the 2025–26 school year.

Transfers approved include moving Matthew Ianni from Meadowbrook to George G. White (Instructional Aide Level 1) effective Jan. 5, 2026, and Sanaa Amjoud shifted from George G. White to Meadowbrook effective the same date. The board accepted resignations with regret for three teachers — Sally Leara (Social Studies), Eileen Kehrli (Language Arts) and Christine Castronovo (Mathematics) — all listed as retirements effective June 30, 2026.

The board approved a short-term additional supervision assignment for Evette Frazer to provide 30 minutes of supervision for student ID #104448 at George White from Jan. 5–9, 2026 at $21.00 per hour. The board also ratified the Superintendent’s restoration of an employee (ID on file) effective Jan. 5, 2026 following an investigation, citing the applicable New Jersey statutes noted in the minutes.

Separately, the board approved increasing the Bedside/Home Instruction rate from $50.00 to $65.00 per hour for 2025–26. Trustees approved chaperones for the April 15–17, 2026 middle-school Washington, D.C. trip, including Principal Jaclyn Derwin and school nurse Christina Horton among named staff; chaperones will receive an overnight stipend of $204.00 for two nights where applicable.

All personnel motions in this section were approved by consensus, 5-0.
