Hillsdale Board approves budget transfers, December bill list and asbestos abatement change orders

At its Jan. 19 meeting the Hillsdale Board of Education approved finance and buildings-and-grounds items recommended by committees, including budget transfers, bills, assistive-technology services and asbestos abatement change orders.

The Finance Committee presented September 2025 budget transfers and financial reports. The board approved transfers that moved line items between accounts (examples in board papers included an $18,525 transfer to contractual services and a $12,165 reallocation to grades 6–8 salaries). Trustees also approved the Board Secretary’s and Treasurer’s reports for period ending Sept. 30, 2025 and certified that, to their knowledge, no major account had been over-expended per N.J.A.C. requirements.

The board approved the December 2025 bill list totaling $2,389,675.53 and authorized Assistive Technology Ongoing Services from Bergen County Special Services for one student (ID#104157) for up to four hours not to exceed $720.00.

On Buildings and Grounds, the board approved agreement modifications for T&M Associates (environmental consultant) increasing their contract from $194,800.00 to $202,950.00 to cover additional variance preparation, design and monitoring related to renovation work and unforeseen materials. The board also approved Change Orders for B&G Restoration Inc., including $1,713 for NJDCA variance fees and $17,000 for removal of approximately 300 square feet of asbestos-containing heat shield panels in Rooms 114 and 115 using Subchapter 8 procedures. The board authorized the School Business Administrator or Board President to execute necessary documents.

Trustees also approved multiple Use of School Facilities requests for Borough of Hillsdale youth programs and other organizations with dates and rooms specified in the board materials. All motions in the finance and buildings sections were passed by consensus, 5-0.
