DeKalb committee renews fleet, tire and maintenance contracts and ratifies emergency mowing

DeKalb County commissioners approved a series of routine but operationally important contract renewals for fleet and maintenance services and ratified an emergency right-of-way mowing purchase.

Staff said the county is exercising first renewal options on multiple fleet contracts covering filters, lubricants, tires and repair services. The committee approved the filters renewal (exercising through Sept. 30, 2027) with a total not-to-exceed amount reported as $450,000 for the vendor group. A lubricants renewal shared with Watershed treatment plants was approved with a not-to-exceed total of $820,000. Commissioners also approved an annual tire purchase/recapping/repair contract awarded to several vendors as described in the packet and a large multi-vendor on-call repair renewal covering automobiles and equipment that staff said would continue service across county fleets.

The committee ratified an emergency stop-gap right-of-way mowing and maintenance purchase to Russell Landscape LLC for up to $123,930 to address excess vegetation and visibility hazards; staff said the work had already been completed in multiple districts.

Why it matters: These renewals and the emergency ratification maintain day-to-day county operations for vehicles, equipment and roadside safety. Staff indicated the requests were reviewed by audit and supported.

What’s next: Contracts will proceed under the exercised renewal options and staff will manage vendor tasking through the county procurement process.
