Board updates: cameras near completion, gutters scheduled and Field 1 needs more dirt and new rubber

At the May 25 meeting the Taos Parks and Recreation Board reviewed a set of facilities and maintenance items that included security, gutters and field repairs.

Board members said the security-camera system is roughly 80% complete, currently using 4 TB of storage with six cameras installed and recording 24/7; the system can support eight additional cameras in the future. The board also approved a gutter installation scheduled for May 29 by contractor K & H at a quoted price of $1,100 to be installed on both sides of the office building with 6-inch gutters and larger downspouts.

Recreation committee members reported Field 1 needs more dirt for the pitching mound and a new 10-inch high rubber; as configured the field is currently usable only for older boys (14U and up). Joe Nichols reported he acquired 10 cabinets at no cost for use in the upper pavilion and other park storage needs. Maintenance staff confirmed wasp spray is available for pest control. Derek will prepare a shopping list of needed supplies and notify the president to place orders.

The minutes did not list contract details beyond the quoted gutter price or specify funding lines beyond the City Council’s allocation for dirt and signage noted elsewhere in the meeting.
