LaSalle council approves Rotary Park bid, ambulance equipment purchase and a $500 donation

LaSalle City Council voted Tuesday to move ahead on several finance and procurement items, including accepting a low bid for Rotary Park Phase 4, authorizing a purchase for the fire department and approving a small community donation.

Council accepted the engineer's recommendation to award the Rotary Park Phase 4 sledding hill contract to the low bidder listed on the agenda, with an alternate that combined to an agenda total of $85,381.35 as read into the record. Staff explained the base bid and alternate work and said contingency work could raise the eventual cost up to a figure noted by staff as approximately $85,000; council approved the award on a roll call vote.

The council also approved a finance committee recommendation to purchase a power unit (recorded in the meeting as a "power pro" or similar term) for the city's new ambulance at a cost read as $39,729.85. The purchase was approved following the finance committee recommendation and a roll call vote.

Separately, the finance committee recommended a $500 donation to the Better Fishing Association kids program; the council approved the donation, with Alderman Reynolds recorded as abstaining because he serves on the BFA board.

Council directed staff to complete procurement paperwork and to proceed with contract execution and purchase orders. The items were routine approvals consistent with the city procurement and finance process.
