Commission approves two health‑department contract attachments for maternal‑child health and immunizations

The Coffey County Health Department presented two contract attachments from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment for the board’s approval.

The first, a Maternal and Child Health (MCH) contract attachment, totaled $9,362 and requires a 40% local match; staff said the funds support salaries, breastfeeding‑support kits, pumping kits and community baby‑shower events. The department noted that updated contract language imposes reporting penalties if quarterly reporting deadlines are missed; staff said they have not experienced reporting shortfalls.

The second was an Immunization Action Plan attachment for $3,375, which the department said supports partial salary costs for immunization services and requires a work plan with project metrics for each school grade cycle. Staff said they are working with local schools to increase immunization rates but would not disclose small‑population school percentages for privacy.

Motions to approve both contract attachments passed unanimously with commissioners recorded voting yes.
