Bamberg County School District Chair called a special-call budget workshop to order at 1:00 p.m. on May 1 and the board moved into executive session to discuss personnel matters tied to the 2026–27 budget.
Board member Miss Hurst moved, "I move that we approve the agenda for today, 05/01/2026, as presented," and the chair recorded a second from Miss Bamberg; the motion to approve the agenda carried. Later in the meeting Miss Hurst moved "that we go into executive session to discuss personnel budget," a motion the chair recorded as seconded by Miss Griffin; the board voted to enter executive session.
The board returned to open session after the executive session. The chair reported, "We had no actions," and reiterated that the district is early in the budget process: the board is still awaiting final allocations from the state legislature and is working to confirm county tax revenue figures. "We appreciate your input. You can continue to give us input," the chair said, urging continued public engagement as staff and trustees refine proposals.
No formal personnel actions were announced in open session. The meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn was made on behalf of Miss Hurst, seconded by Miss Bloom; the chair closed the session and said the board will reconvene on Monday night.
The workshop primarily handled procedural steps and the executive-session personnel discussion; board leaders emphasized that budget decisions remain contingent on forthcoming state and county revenue figures and invited public comment as staff continue budget preparations.
