Sparta confirms legal appointments for city attorney, prosecutor and municipal judge

The Sparta Board of Aldermen adopted three ordinances at the Jan. 21, 2020 regular session to fill key legal roles for the city. Mayor Jenni Davis read the bills by title and description, and the board approved on roll-call votes:

- Bill No. 20‑001 appointing J. Randal Howell II as City Attorney (adopted 4–0).
- Bill No. 20‑002 appointing J. Randal Howell II as Prosecuting Attorney (adopted 4–0).
- Bill No. 20‑003 appointing Andrew Brown as Sparta Municipal Judge (adopted 4–0).

Alderman Jarrett Ray Iorg moved the readings and subsequent adoption motions for the bills; the minutes record seconders and unanimous roll calls for each adoption. The minutes include the ordinance titles as read and the recorded roll votes. The meetings do not record extended debate about the appointments, indicating the measures were handled as standard items on the agenda.
