NEM Board of Assessors approves minutes, votes to enter executive session on exemptions and litigation

The NEM Board of Assessors met on Friday, May 29, 2026. The board opened the public session, confirmed the meeting was being broadcast via Zoom and recorded for later publication and administrative purposes, and noted the rules allowing attendees to record with the chair's permission.

A member moved to accept the minutes from April 27 and May 1. A second was recorded, members responded in the affirmative and the chair announced the motion passed unanimously.

After approving the minutes, the board voted to enter executive session. The board stated it would not return to open session prior to adjournment in order to discuss real estate and personal property exemption and/or abatement applications that are not open to public inspection; returns of property held for charitable purposes that are not open to public inspection; and strategy with respect to litigation where public discussion could be detrimental to the government's litigating position. A roll-call vote was taken and the board proceeded to executive session.

There were no public comments: the chair said there were no residents in the room and no participants online for public comment. The session then recessed for a short executive-session period.
