Prairie View EDC to open talks with city on leased modular office near city hall

The Prairie View Economic Development Corporation reviewed two modular leased-office options and voted to enter discussions with the city to clarify price, location, size and physical inspection arrangements. Staff presented two modular configurations (a smaller 24x64 unit and a larger 36x56 option) and line-item monthly cost estimates; board members discussed utility, janitorial and furniture options as well as the potential to consolidate storage and office costs.

Directors said a shared space near city hall would improve operations by providing a place for staff, meetings and file storage. The board discussed logistics including whether the modular would be furnished, whether furniture would be rented or bought, and savings from eliminating off-site storage. After discussion, the board moved and carried a motion to enter discussions with the city about pricing, location, scope and to arrange a physical inspection of proposed modular units. Directors emphasized any final lease or procurement that exceeds council thresholds will be referred to city council.
