Hempstead to open town pools a day early on June 19, Supervisor John Ferretti says

Town Supervisor John Ferretti announced that the Town of Hempstead will open its public pools one day earlier than planned, on June 19, with operating hours of 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Ferretti made the announcement at Veterans Memorial Pool in East Meadow and said the change was timed for when schools are closed so children can use the facilities.

“Originally we were scheduled to open June 20th, but I'm proud to announce that we will be opening one day early on June 19th,” Ferretti said. He added that the town expects warm weather for opening day and encouraged families to visit.

Ferretti said all town pools will operate seven days a week from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. throughout the summer season and that the pools are “watched closely by our nationally recognized lifeguard staff,” which he described as part of the town’s safety assurances for residents.

The supervisor said the town is home to nearly 20 public pools serving residents across the township and listed recent facility upgrades: new splash pads, additional umbrellas and shade structures on pool decks, and the addition of palm trees to enhance the facilities’ appearance.

Ferretti opened the event by identifying himself and closed by reiterating the town’s invitation for residents to use the pools throughout the summer.
