Pottawattamie County supervisors move decertified clerks’ union employees to nonunion pay steps, effective July 1

The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously June 5 to move employees in the de-certified clerks’ union to nonunion steps and grades, effective July 1, 2026.

Supervisor Wichman moved the measure and Supervisor Jones seconded; the minutes record the motion passed by a unanimous vote. Chairman Brian Shea presided over the meeting, which convened at 8:00 a.m.

The board’s minutes record the action but do not specify how many employees are affected, how pay or benefits will change in practice, or which county departments will implement the new pay steps. The minutes also do not list any amendments or conditions attached to the motion.

County Auditor Mary Ann Hanusa attested to the minutes on June 9, 2026. The board adjourned at 8:21 a.m. after completing scheduled business.
