The Goshen Board of Public Works and Safety unanimously voted Wednesday to accept the retirement of Assistant Chief Shawn Turner, whose final day of service will be July 7, 2026. Police Chief Stevenson introduced the request and reviewed Turner’s career, saying Turner began with the Goshen Police Department in 1996 and rose to assistant chief in 2018.
Chief Stevenson told the board that Turner served the community for more than 30 years and thanked him for his leadership and commitment to residents and to the policing profession. The board moved, seconded and approved the retirement during its regular meeting.
No personnel actions or succession plans were detailed at the meeting; Chief Stevenson’s remarks focused on acknowledging Turner’s service and wishing him well in retirement. The board’s vote was unanimous.
