The Pleasant Hill City Architectural Review Commission on July 2 approved replacement signage for Pleasant Hill Medical Plaza at 400 Taylor Boulevard, finding the proposed wall and monument signs comply with city sign-size and design standards.
Staff told the commission the application (ENT 2026-000011) proposes one replacement wall sign (shown in plans as about 122.28 square feet) and one monument sign that uses the existing location and structure; staff said both signs conform to the applicable size and height limits in the zoning ordinance. Staff also noted a clerical error on the plan sheets labeling the site as "Pleasanton," which staff said would be corrected for the building-permit submittal.
Brian, the contractor representing property owner Lincoln Properties, said the design intent was to modernize the signs while reusing the existing mounting and electrical infrastructure where possible. "We're really just trying to go like-for-like, same size, keep things very consistent and just modernize the appearance," he said.
Commissioners asked technical questions about the monument-sign height, sight-distance requirements for drivers entering the site and whether a structural engineer's details would be required. Staff replied that structural review requirements would be handled during building-permit review if needed and that an on-site directional/exempt sign is already sized to meet sight-distance requirements.
The contractor explained materials and illumination: the sign body will be fabricated from aluminum with acrylic letters; the wall sign will use internal LED modules with perforated vinyl to produce subdued internal illumination. He said the monument sign will be mounted to the existing concrete base and that new stainless fasteners will be used where needed.
A motion to accept the signs as proposed was moved, seconded and approved with three recorded "yes" votes. Staff will process the building permit and ensure any remaining details (sheet corrections, mounting fasteners, and any structural calculations if required) are completed before installation.
