Board of Adjustment delays Rechurch variance hearing, sets tentative August date

The Planning and Zoning Commission adjourned and reconvened as the Board of Adjustment July 2 to again consider Rechurch's variance request for a 32-foot sign. Board members reviewed the calendar for city council readings: a first reading was scheduled for the council meeting on Monday, and a second reading could follow July 20; publication and a 20-day referendum period were expected to push effective dates into late August.

Given the calendar complexity, the board moved to table the variance hearing until August 20 (with September 3 as a fallback), while noting that if the city council acts sooner the Board of Adjustment schedule could be accelerated. Members agreed to the amended date and the motion passed.

The board did not take a final variance decision at the July 2 meeting; the item will be on the Board of Adjustment agenda on the date determined by availability and council timelines.
