Harpswell Select Board approves seasonal recycling hire and authorizes $6,620 GPS tool; old aluminum ramps put out to bid

The Harpswell Select Board approved several administrative items under consent and other business, including hiring a seasonal recycling-center worker, authorizing a GPS tool purchase for the code office and directing staff to put two surplus aluminum ramps up for sealed bid.

Town staff recommended hiring Evan Harding for a seasonal recycling-center position at $20 per hour; a board member moved the hire and another seconded the motion, which the board approved. The recommendation followed an interview process led by the recycling manager, Chuck Perau, and the town administrator.

Under other business the code office requested purchase of a GPS/tablet tool to assist inspections and mapping. The board authorized the purchase at $6,620.96, noting the cost is covered in the department’s budget and had been reviewed by the Budget Advisory Committee.

Harbor Master Darcy Coocher reported two older aluminum ramps stored near the generator building and asked the board to declare them surplus and put them out to sealed bid. The board agreed to advertise the ramps for bid with a two-week deadline and asked staff to move them nearer the roadside so bidders can view them.
