Orange Village swears in Anthony Ugrrenic as new police officer

The Orange Village Council confirmed and the mayor administered the oath of office to Anthony Ugrrenic, who is beginning his career with the Orange Village Police Department.

Council members and the mayor noted Anthony was joined by family and friends for the ceremony. Speakers recounted his recent completion of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy and his graduation from Menor High School in 2023. The mayor and other speakers thanked Anthony’s grandfather, Chief Walter Ugrrenic of the Shaker Heights Police Department, for his decades of service and mentorship in the region.

Council made and seconded the confirmation motion; the clerk called the roll and members recorded 'yes' votes. Anthony then took the oath, signed required paperwork and completed the ceremonial onboarding steps.

Council members welcomed the new officer and noted his participation earlier in the week in a community 'safety town' program, where he spoke with children as part of orientation into the department.
