Board unanimously approves consent agenda, declares SPLOST results and accepts financial report

At its regular meeting, the Dade County Board of Commissioners approved a broad consent agenda and recorded several formal outcomes.

Election results: The chair read certified results for a May 19 referendum to continue the county's 1% special-purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST): 1,564 votes in favor and 913 opposed. The chair said the measure passed and staff will forward documentation to county counsel and the Georgia Department of Revenue for final processing.

Financial report approved: Rebecca Jones, county CFO, presented the budget-variance report through May 31, 2026: year-to-date revenues $14,806,822 (budget $14,754,292 — excess $52,530); expenses $14,886,633 (budget $14,734,310 — over by $152,323); year-to-date tax collections 98.34%. The board moved, seconded and unanimously approved the financial report.

Consent agenda and surplus property: The clerk read a consent agenda that included the personnel report, transit-day proclamation, elections building construction updates, the EMS agreement with Puckett EMS (effective Feb. 1, 2027), resolutions declaring several vehicles surplus (including a 2015 Ford Escape, a 1986 Chevrolet Kodiak and a 1993 Simon ladder truck) and the first reading of an ordinance amending ABC proof-of-age standards. Missus Bradford moved to approve; Mister Hartline seconded and the motion passed by unanimous vote.

Executive session: The board recessed to executive session for personnel matters and later returned; the chair reported no decisions were made during executive session.

Next steps: Several items will return for further action or public hearings, including SPLOST-related projects (chiefs and residents will present ladder-truck requests in August), any final contract execution for EMS, and outreach on the November referenda.
