Council briefed on water-reuse study aiming to design a small-scale pilot plant

City Manager Dennis told the Wichita City Council that a continuing water-reuse study is moving funds and preparing the city to pursue a vision for a small-scale water-reuse plant. Dennis said the study will fund preliminary work to show what a small-scale treatment and reuse structure might look like, and that it follows the council’s prior direction on reuse.

The city manager presented the effort as an early-stage feasibility and scoping project rather than a final engineering or construction commitment. He said the work is intended to surface options and inform later decisions about scale, funding, and interagency requirements.

Council members did not take formal action during the briefing; staff indicated the water-reuse study will return to the council with further details as the preliminary work is completed.
