County attorney candidate Sarah Rogers presents platform to Boscawen select board

Sarah Rogers, a candidate for Marramac County attorney, used the select board forum to introduce herself and outline priorities she would pursue if elected.

"I'm Sarah Rogers. I'm running for county attorney," she told the board, describing a prosecutorial background that included work in multiple county attorney offices and "49 criminal jury trials." Rogers said her priorities include closer supervision of prosecutors, expanding use of data tracking to count trials and case outcomes, and a more active use of motions to hold defendants who violate bail conditions. "We have a new bail law that says if people violate their conditions of bail, the prosecutor can file a motion to hold them. We need a county attorney who's going to make sure that the prosecutors are filing those motions," she said.

Rogers characterized prior practices in the Marramac County Attorney’s Office as inconsistent across prosecutors and said she would emphasize victims’ voices, collaboration with CASA (court-appointed special advocates) and accountability in supervision. She noted her ties to the county and described prosecution as a long-standing vocational commitment.

Board members thanked Rogers for speaking and encouraged candidates to return periodically if elected. The board did not take any formal action related to the visit; Rogers left pamphlets for public review.
