Board perfects mobile‑vendor code changes to expand food‑truck zones downtown and at stadiums

The Board of Aldermen perfected a committee substitute for Board Bill 50, a rewrite of the city’s mobile food vendor code meant to reduce regulatory barriers for food truck operators and clarify permitted vending zones.

Sponsor Alderman Aldridge said the bill cuts burdensome rules and restores language to permit vendors in event areas tied to major venues. "The goal of this legislation is to cut regulations around food trucks for them to be able to operate a lot easier in the city of St. Louis," he said, adding the updated text re‑adds Cardinals‑related provisions to cover event vending and clarifies allowed downtown commercial vending corridors and stadium‑adjacent areas.

The ordinance describes specific downtown Market Street blocks and downtown‑west blocks near the soccer stadium and other commercial vending zones while excluding largely residential streets. Several colleagues praised the change for small business support and clarity; the measure was perfected on the floor following public committee work and multiple co‑sponsors were added on the record.

The board recorded passage of the perfection motion and the committee substitute will appear on the regular calendar for further consideration toward final passage.
