The Belgrade Regional Parks, Trails and Recreation District board approved the purchase and installation of a gable-roof pavilion for Corbett Park and endorsed placing it on the western hardscaped side near the larger playground.
Staff presented multiple roofing and design options from a vendor (Place Based Designs) and said the options fall within the previously appropriated fiscal-year capital budget; capital appropriations remain valid for three years. Staff noted a local installer would reduce mobilization costs and that many options included features to deter bird nesting and could accommodate future electrification.
The staff presenter said, "I would say my personal favorite ... would be the gable roofed one," recommending the gable design and west-side placement for better afternoon shade and proximity to the playground. Board members discussed snow load, maintenance and potential vandalism — including whether lower eaves might invite climbing — and agreed the gable presents the best balance of function and aesthetics.
Committee member (S3) moved to approve the gable purchase and installation; the motion was seconded on the record and approved by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will coordinate final specifications, secure the local installer and schedule installation using the funds appropriated in the FY26 capital budget. No specific installation date was recorded in the meeting transcript.
