Interim Superintendent Rebecca Johnson reported routine operational updates at the Aug. 18 St. John the Baptist Parish School Board meeting.
Johnson said the district’s 1/4-cent sales tax payout is scheduled for Aug. 26; staff are verifying the payment roster and estimated the payout between $1,300 and $1,500, with a final amount to be confirmed. She reported 15 new buses are budgeted under ESSER; the plan is to order eight immediately and the remaining seven after ESSER reimbursement. Johnson said it takes approximately 90 days to receive a bus after ordering and about 2–3 weeks to receive reimbursement once the bus is received.
Johnson distributed an enrollment handout and provided updates on school heating, ventilation and air conditioning: at ESJH the part for the 400 building was expected the following week to remove temporary air; at WSJH one gym unit was repaired, a second awaited new coils and temporary units remain in place; WSJE gym temporary units remain until systems are replaced. Johnson also described the district’s “No‑Show” truancy process (teacher contact Day 1–2, counselor Day 3, CWA staff outreach and home visits, and JCAMPUS audits to verify outreach efforts).
These items were presented as an informational superintendent’s report; no board vote was required.
