Marshall Preston, a member of the Town of Westborough Veterans Advisory Board, described how he became involved after attending a memorial refresh project and said board members encouraged him to stay and participate.
"I showed up in my uniform to pay respects to Captain Haskell and they graciously said, 'Come, you know, come join one of our meetings,'" Preston said, recalling the outreach that led him to the board.
Preston named several people who helped welcome him to the group and stressed the board’s role in serving an aging veteran population. He urged peers from his generation and younger veterans to lend their voices to the board’s work: "We could desperately use your voices and your participation," he said.
As a practical reminder for residents seeking help, Preston said the town’s veteran service officer, Jeff Frell, maintains an office on the first floor of town hall and that contact information appears on screen at the end of the program. He thanked Westborough Television for producing the episode and closed by encouraging viewers to contact the veteran service officer or the Veterans Advisory Board for guidance on benefits and local resources.
No votes or formal actions were recorded during the interview; the segment served as outreach and information for the town’s veteran community.
