Committee says recent bird burial by Trustees was inappropriate; member to draft letter to Board

Members of the Wainscott Citizens Advisory Committee discussed a recent bird burial performed by the Town Trustees and concluded the burial was inappropriate and potentially unsafe.

Cate Rogers, the Town Board liaison, said the Trustees considered the action to be their responsibility and therefore not a Town Board matter. Committee members disagreed with the Trustees’ approach and expressed concern about safety and propriety.

Barry Raebeck agreed to draft a letter on behalf of the committee for review before it is sent to the Town Board, asking the Board to address the incident and clarify procedures for similar matters in the future. No formal vote was recorded; the committee reached a consensus to proceed with a draft letter.
