The Crown Point Board of Public Works and Safety opened contractor bids and voted to accept them pending legal and staff review for two separate projects: demolition of 20 North Court Street and the Gold Star Memorial Bike Trail.
For the 20 North Court Street demolition, staff (Alex) opened four bids reported in the meeting: Brandenburgg Industrial Service Company ($120,133), Underground Excavating Solutions ($129,600), KLF Enterprises ($55,500) and CE Construction Services (two options listed at $87,500 and $73,250). Alex recommended the board accept the bids as presented pending final legal and staff review; the board moved and approved that course of action.
On the Gold Star Memorial Bike Trail, staff reported three bids and presented base bids and alternate bid amounts as read into the record; staff recommended acceptance pending legal and engineering review. Alex noted the project would be funded in part with state and Department of Natural Resources grant funds. Board members asked about schedule; staff said they were hopeful the trail would open by fall and that work would come back to the board for final contract award after review.
Both motions to accept the bids were approved by voice vote with the condition that legal and engineering reviews be completed before final contract awards.
Staff will return with finalized bid tabulations and recommendations for award once legal and engineering teams complete their reviews.
